Before Sunrise, Kochie was a pure finance nerd. For 12 years he owned a
family publishing business specialising in financial publications and was
the creator of Personal Investment magazine, Money Management newspaper and
My Business magazine.
He's still one of Australia's foremost business and finance commentators and
was recently named Australia's Best Finance Journalist by the readers of
Banking and Finance magazine. In 2007 he was recognised as the Small
Business Champion by the Council of Small Business of Australia (COSBOA).
David still maintains his passion for money matters and is heard on radio
stations around Australia and writes finance columns for New Idea and the
Smart Investor section of the Sun-Herald and Sunday Age..
A survey conducted by Money Management newspaper recognised David as one of
the 10 most influential people in establishing the retail financial services
industry. A Reader's Digest survey found he is also one of the top 50 most
trusted people in Australia.
But finance aside, he's a passionate family man, making him perfect for his
role on Sunrise. He's coached his kids' rugby, netball and basketball teams
while serving on the council of his daughter's school. He's also the Number
1 Ticketholder for the Port Adelaide AFL club and the Sydney Swifts netball
team.
