Fasten your seat belts ladies and gentlemen, because series two of our favourite globe-trotting TV show is ready for take off!

The Airport Economist – based on the best-selling book of the same name – is your business guide to the world, offering unmatched insights on how to succeed overseas.

The show follows Australian economist, author, international media commentator and unofficial Akubra ambassador Tim Harcourt as he visits exotic locations to unlock their business secrets.

Tim speaks to everyone from high-ranking politicians and CEOs, all the way through to small business owners and savvy entrepreneurs who have succeeded on the world stage. There’s a splash of the arts, a dash of sport, and a bit of history and social observation thrown in for good measure too.

Who says economics has to be boring?

In series one, Tim travelled around Asia looking at trade opportunities in this vast and varied business landscape.

He discovered Singapore slings plenty of trade our way, Indonesia is focused on living prosperously, you can try a MAFTA with your LAKSA in Malaysia and in Bangkok there are Thais that bind.

Our Ho Chi Minh episode was dubbed ‘Good Exporting Vietnam’. In Japan, we learned about the Arrows of Abenomics and explored the old question – does size really matter? In China we discovered Panda-monium and the Great Mall, while in India they’re in the grip of Modi-mania.

And did you know Australia and South Korea are Seoul mates?

In series two The Airport Economist is travelling though Latin America… and he hasn’t run out of puns.

He’s looking at Alpacanomics in Peru, seeing how Red-Hot Chile peppers the world with FTAs, and he’ll be visiting regional powerhouses Brazil and Argentina as well as the Pacific Alliance nations of Mexico and Colombia.

A UK special is also in the works, exploring the business implications of Brexit. And there are big plans to travel to Europe, the Middle East and emerging markets. The possibilities (and destinations) are endless.

So, come join us as The Airport Economist proves that, for businesses both large and small, the world really is your oyster.

The Airport Economist is filmed both in our Barangaroo studio and around the world.
